PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• Scheduled 5 weekends out of a 6-week schedule (Saturday or Sunday shifts)
• In a 6-week period, at least 9 night shifts and 9 day shifts are required
• Scheduling is self-scheduled
• Patient ratio is 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Must be able to float to NICU and Pediatrics/Pediatric ED as needed
• Care for patient age groups including adolescents, infants, and pediatrics
• 6-bed PICU unit
• Manage patient diagnoses including respiratory distress/failure, DKA, seizures, pain management, and sepsis
• Perform special procedures including moderate sedation, drips, arterial lines, and central lines
• Operate special equipment including ventilators, high flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP
• Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, central line/implanted line care, PICC line management, anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, pediatric dosage calculations, ICP monitoring, management of chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, care/maintenance of acute airway, and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Charting system experience required; Cerner used at this facility
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and more
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Valid Maryland or Compact license required
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS, basic EKG
