NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

Job Details:

• PM shift position
• Every other weekend required, approximately 16 weekend shifts per contract
• 1:3 patient ratio
• 3 years of experience required; no first-time travelers accepted
• Travel experience required
• Floating required to a stepdown NICU unit
• Care for patients requiring CPAP, HFNC, RAM, and intermediate level care
• Patient population includes neonates 29-34 weeks and neonates greater than 34 weeks
• Skills required: NICU II and NICU III, telemetry unit monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia, phototherapy, breastfeeding support and handling of breast milk
• Patient care includes feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, isolation precautions/PPE, neonatal sepsis, sepsis work up, IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, central line/implanted line care, starting and maintaining IVs, antibiotics/antivirals, anti-seizure medications, neonatal dosage calculations, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
• Additional skills include developmental care, patient and family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Charting system: Cerner (required)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
