PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• PCU RN position focused on orthopedic patients with high acuity care needs
• Patient ratio of 1:5, with potential flex to 1:6 on rare occasions
• 2 years of experience required, including Level 1 trauma and high acuity orthopedic experience
• Post-operative care for orthopedic trauma patients as well as overflow surgeries including eye, gynecological, and other surgical cases
• High patient turnover unit with high volume daily admissions
• Patient diagnoses include Total Joints, ORIF fractures, Laminectomy, Hand surgery, Bladder suspension, Gynecological surgeries, and Eye surgeries
• Must be proficient in administering blood products and patient mobility assistance
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed
• Minimum of 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• On-call required: 1-2 weekdays per week and 2 weekends per 13-week contract
• Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities including other PCU floors
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts must be of regular shift length
• Block scheduling not available
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off
• Patients served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Required skills: Blood Product Administration, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC Line Management, Starting and Maintaining IVs, PCA, Ortho Trauma, Peripheral Nerve Block Catheters, Total Joint Replacements, Surgical Drains, Wound Care/Wound Vac, Isolation Precautions/PPE
• Special equipment experience required: Traction, Bulb Syringe, Braces, Casts, Crutches, Doppler, Walker, Hemovac, PICC Line, Mid Line, Alaris Pump, PCA
• Previous charge experience preferred
