Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Orthopedic

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays with permanent staff
• Self-scheduling with cyclic rotation
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available on unit at a 1:13 ratio
• Telemetry boxes on unit with tele techs available to read and interpret strips
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Common patient diagnoses include total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulder replacements, and spinal surgeries
• Administer and monitor pain medications, antibiotics, and blood transfusions at set rates (no drip titration required)
• Floating may be required to Med Surg, rehab, or PCU taking Med Surg acuity
• 1 day of unit-specific orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certification: BLS
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Must pass an open book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• If placed on call and called back in, must arrive within 30 minutes
• Successful candidates are team-oriented, flexible, take ownership within the department, and have a willingness to learn
