Job Details:

• Work in an Ortho/Trauma medical-surgical unit with high acuity, fast-paced environment
• Patient ratio of 5:1 during days, 5:1 or sometimes 6:1 during nights and weekends
• Must be flexible with weekend requirements and able to work 50% of weekends in contract
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Travel experience required
• Must have Indiana/Compact license in hand or submitted fingerprint application
• Required certifications: BLS; ACLS preferred
• Must be willing to precept and/or have students shadow during assignment
• Floating required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within hospital or affiliate hospitals
• May be assigned charge nurse responsibilities with training provided
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Call-in policy requires making up missed shifts during pay period or at end of contract
• Care for patients ages adolescent through geriatric
• Skills include blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tubes, feeding tube management, telemetry monitoring, wound care, and surgical drain management
• Unit serves 20% orthopedic patients (scheduled hip/knee surgeries) and 80% trauma patients (MVAs, shootings, falls)
• Patients often come from emergent surgery or ICU with multiple drains and tubes
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Block scheduling only permitted if working Friday-Sunday
• Flu vaccine required with medical/religious exemptions only
