Job Details:

• Weekend coverage required
• Float requirement applies
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Patient ratios: 4:1 days and weekends, 5:1 nights
• Unit capacity of 34 beds with a daily census of 33 patients
• Treats adult and geriatric patient populations
• Patient diagnoses include pre-liver transplant, acute/chronic liver failure, end stage renal disease, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, acute/chronic respiratory failure, heart failure, sickle cell, and respiratory failure
• Special procedures include hospice care, immunoglobulin therapy, and drip management including heparin and insulin
• Required skills include accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, PICC line management, tracheostomy care/management, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Epic charting system experience required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
• Travel experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
• Louisiana or compact nursing license required
