Opportunity:

Surgical Tech - Surgical Tech Cardiac

Job Details:

• 36 or 48 hours per week with DEN rotation
• Weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts required per unit need
• Provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for cardiac surgical procedures
• Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations
• Care for a wide variety of cardiac patients including CABG, TAVI, and heart failure cases such as VADs, ECMO, artificial heart, and heart transplants
• Responsible for proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases
• Maintain sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and performance of surgical counts per hospital policy
• Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under direction of a registered nurse
• Must be able to scrub and circulate
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room required
• NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician required
• New York state tech license required
• Operating room experience in a Level 1 trauma center highly desired
• Required certification: BLS (American Heart Association only)
