Opportunity:

Laboratory - Medical Lab Scientist

Job Details:

• Work evening shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) or night shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with flexible start times for 10-hour shifts
• Required to float between Methodist, University, and Riley hospitals
• Training and orientation will be on day shift for the first two weeks before transitioning to contracted shift
• Every other weekend required along with 1 holiday if it falls within contract period
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• First time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ASCP-MLS and ASCP-BB (both certifications required)
• MLTs not accepted for this position
• Required skills include specimen processing, ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID, antibody typing using tube method, crossmatch procedures, electronic crossmatch, and indirect Coombs test
• Handle approximately 15,000 samples
• Perform routine and specialized compatibility testing and preparation of blood components for transfusion
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Experience with automated equipment, gel testing method, and component modification preferred
