About this role
Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 8-bed Neuro ICU. You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a guaranteed 36 hours weekly. This is a 13-week contract beginning July 6, 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in the Neuro ICU, with possible float to Medical-Surgical ICU and other critical care units as needed
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and bedside ICU procedures including line placement and intubation
- Manage patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and neurosurgery cases
- Handle external ventricular drains (EVDs) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
- Assist with bolt and drain bedside placements alongside Neurosurgery
- Chart in EPIC and manage independent patient care with timely task completion
Requirements:
- Current Wisconsin RN License
- BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
- NIHSS certification
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience; 1 travel assignment preferred
- Medical-Surgical ICU and/or Neuro ICU background with strong neurological assessment skills
- EPIC charting experience
- Associate Degree or Certificate required
Schedule Details:
- Every other weekend and holiday requirement
- No on-call obligations; contract eligible for up to 36 hours of low census unbillable hours
- Unit may implement low census in 4-hour increments, which may result in 4- or 8-hour shift requests
Additional Information:
- You must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Any color scrubs are permitted
- During flu season, unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times per facility policy
Compensation: $2,351.52 weekly
