Description
<p><strong>RN Position Job Notes:</strong></p> <p>Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.</p> <p><strong>Opportunity:</strong></p><p>Registered Nurse - PCU</p><p><strong>Job Details:</strong></p><p>• Work in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in orthopedic patients<br>• Patient ratios of 1:5 (may occasionally flex to 1:6)<br>• Minimum 2 years of experience required with Level 1 trauma experience mandatory<br>• Care for high acuity orthopedic patients including post-op trauma patients<br>• Handle overflow surgeries from eyes to gynecology<br>• Manage large patient turnover with high volume daily admissions<br>• Required to work 8 weekend shifts in 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)<br>• On-call requirement: 1-2 weekdays per week and 2 weekends per 13 weeks<br>• Float between departments, units, and facilities as needed including other PCU floors<br>• Must be proficient in blood product administration and patient mobility<br>• Handle total joints, ORIF fractures, laminectomy, hand surgery, bladder suspension procedures<br>• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS<br>• Skills required: IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC line management, PCA management<br>• Experience with orthopedic trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, surgical drains required<br>• Proficiency needed with isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac<br>• Work with special equipment including traction, braces, casts, crutches, doppler, hemovac, PICC lines, Alaris pumps<br>• 12 hours of orientation provided<br>• Epic charting system experience required<br>• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13 weeks<br>• Maximum 7 days request time off allowed<br>• Charge nurse assignments as needed</p><p><strong>Facility:</strong></p><p>This is a 5-time Magnet Award winning tertiary care facility with 456 staffed beds. The hospital is a Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital that maintains the highest standards of nursing excellence. The facility offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services.
