Job Details:

• Perform various technical, clerical, and information systems related procedures in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, specimen procurement, and other laboratory areas
• Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of results and enter data from medical tests and clinical results into computer systems
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and microbiology
• Prepare and analyze slides and specimens of human blood, tissue, or other cells
• Establish and monitor quality assurance programs and activities to ensure accuracy of laboratory results
• Collect and study blood samples to determine cell count, morphology, blood group, blood type, and compatibility for transfusion purposes using microscopic techniques
• Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids including blood, urine, and spinal fluid to determine presence of normal and abnormal components
• Identify abnormalities in samples such as malignancies, bacteria, parasites, or genetic abnormalities
• Assist with blood-typing and other routine blood tests as needed
• Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, and researchers
• Perform specimen collection on patients of all age groups including venipuncture, capillary draws, and culturing sites
• Instruct nursing staff on correct methods of sample collection
• Maintain instrument and lab section as assigned including scheduled maintenance and monitoring consumables
• Washington state Medical Assistant Phlebotomy license is required
