Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM as scheduled by manager
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend, Friday–Saturday or Saturday–Monday
• Holiday rotation shared with core staff
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally 1:3 for overflow or PCU downgrade patients
• 18-bed ICU unit
• Care for critically ill patients with complex and potentially life-threatening conditions including Sepsis, Acute MI, renal patients, post-vascular procedures, strokes, TIA, seizures, ARDS, and CV procedures
• Age population served includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Perform invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Titrate critical drips including vasopressors and sedation (e.g., Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin)
• Manage lumbar drains and ARDS ventilator management
• Operate equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation via trach and ET tube, telemetry, IV pumps, sequential compression devices, and specialty beds
• Read telemetry strips independently as there is no monitor tech on the unit
• Float to Stepdown, Med-Surg/Telemetry, or Emergency Department as needed; travelers float in rotation
• Charge Nurse primarily without patients and House Supervisor available 24/7
• Hospitalist in house 24/7; Intensivist not always available
• Respiratory Therapy available as needed, not stationed in ICU
• Document using EPIC charting system
• Minimum two years of critical care experience required; travel experience required
• CRRT and IABP experience required; Impella experience preferred
• No travel duos accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
• Preferred certifications: PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
• Dress code: Navy solid color scrubs, no embroidery or patterns; WVU Medicine or solid color fleece zip-ups in grey, black, navy, or royal blue permitted; solid undershirts in white, grey, or black; closed-toe shoes only, no Crocs
• Orientation includes general hospital orientation, full-day nursing orientation, computer training, and two 12-hour preceptor shifts
