PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 13-week travel assignment beginning July 6, 2026.

Position Details

• Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Intermediate Care
• Shift: 3x12 nights (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Pay: $2,402.64 weekly

Clinical Responsibilities

• 8-bed observation unit with 1:4 patient ratio
• Manage admissions and discharges in a high-volume setting (average patient stay up to 48 hours)
• Administer and monitor drips: Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
• Care for patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre/post-operative urology and GI cases
• Read and interpret EKG strips (EKG exam required during compliance)
• Float to all inpatient units as needed, including IMC and CTU units
• Chart using EPIC system

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN license
• BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC) certification
• NIHSS certification highly preferred
• Minimum 3 years nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment
• Associate Degree or Certificate in nursing
• Background in observation units or Med-Surg/Telemetry units preferred
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Contract includes 36 hours of low-census unbillable time, available in hour increments (typically 4-hour blocks)
• Any color scrubs permitted
