First Assist Technician Job in Jackson, Kentucky

Kentucky River Medical Center is seeking a First Assist Technician for their operating room in Jackson, Kentucky. This is a travel position for a 91-day assignment beginning June 15, 2026.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide first assistance during surgical procedures, including suturing, exposure management, and hemostasis control
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical team members
• Maintain operating room cleanliness and organization before, during, and after procedures
• Support surgical procedures as an advanced operating room professional

Schedule

You will work Monday through Friday, 5 days per week on day shift. Call requirements are 2–3 days per week with no weekend call currently scheduled, though you must remain flexible should weekend call become necessary. You may be required to work on holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of surgical first assist experience required
• Prior travel healthcare experience required; local candidates not accepted
• Valid Kentucky license for practice
• Current credentialing through either NBSTSA or NCCSA
• Surgical Assistant Certification through the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure
• Facility credentialing required

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,628.
