PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning May 11, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,016.

Schedule and Staffing:

• 3x12 hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling block
• At least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 holidays during winter season)
• 32 hours of orientation provided

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Care for adult and geriatric patients on Hospitalist service with pulmonary and medicine-related conditions
• Manage cardiac monitoring, interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Administer cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine and dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, and Lasix (no titration)
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Provide ventilator care for chronic vented patients (not ICU level); unit accommodates up to two ventilated patients
• Deliver respiratory support using nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Maintain isolation precautions
• Float within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical level units as needed
• Remote telemetry monitoring with tele-sitting technology

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• RN degree
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience required
• Chronic ventilator experience required for PCU Medical/Pulmonary with Renal overflow
• First-time travelers accepted
