PACU RN Job in Shreveport, LA

Join CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, LA as a travel Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This 91-day assignment begins June 15, 2026, offering you $2,190 weekly on a 5x8 day schedule.

Position Overview

You will deliver post-anesthesia nursing care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric patients. Your responsibilities include assessing patients emerging from anesthesia, monitoring vital signs and recovery progress, administering medications and treatments, and documenting care provided. You will evaluate patients for readiness to transfer to inpatient units or discharge, and provide education to patients and family members about their care and recovery.

Case Types

You will care for patients across multiple surgical specialties, including:

• Orthopedic procedures
• General surgery
• Vascular procedures
• ENT
• Urology
• Breast reconstruction

You will also manage critical care patients requiring transfer to intensive care units and utilize the full nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

Scheduling

The primary shift is 11:30 AM–8:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Flexible scheduling options are available, including early morning and extended shifts.

Requirements

• Valid RN License in Louisiana or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from AHA (or ENPC certification)
• 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty preferred
• Perioperative RN Residency or recent OR/perioperative setting experience preferred
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred

Onboarding

You will attend New Nurses Orientation within your first 30 days and complete designated organizational entry competency validation and department-specific competency validation.
