Job Details:

• Schedule is manager/scheduler driven with every other weekend required
• Holidays required as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• PICU is a 26-bed unit; IMCU is a 13-bed unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: PICU 1:1-2, IMCU 1:3-4
• Ancillary assistance available with 1-2 PCTs/CNAs per shift
• Advanced practice providers on units; PICU has Residents, Fellows, and Attending MDs; IMCU has Hospitalists until 11:00 PM, then Residents
• Floating is required within the ICU cluster (NICE, PICU, Burn PICU, IMCU); travelers are first to float
• 2-3 days of orientation and specialty testing expected
• Dress code policy must be followed
• EMR system is EPIC (recent EPIC experience required); medication system is Pyxis with barcode scanning
• Equipment includes Pyxis with barcode scanning, pharmacy dose, GE Dash, Servi I, and long-term vents in the IMCU
• RTs and RNs manage ventilators
• Transport system available in-house
• PICU patient population includes respiratory distress, CRRT, ECMO, post-arrest, trauma (blunt and penetrating), neuro, surgical post-ops, urology, ortho, ENT, burns if intubated and under 13 years, and new onset DKA
• IMCU patient population includes respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, trachs, and diagnoses stepped down from PICU
• Two years of experience required for PICU; 2-5 years of clinical experience in specialty required
• Previous travel experience of at least one assignment required
• PICU experience required for IMCU candidates due to floating requirements
• Required certifications: PALS, BLS
