Operating Room RN Job in Waterloo, IA

UnityPoint - Allen Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room on a temporary assignment. This is a 91-day contract beginning August 10, 2026, with a 4x10 flexible shift schedule.

Role and Responsibilities

You will work as a scrub nurse in a dynamic surgical environment, supporting a variety of surgical specialties. You will be responsible for instrument management, surgical site preparation, and direct support to surgical teams during procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license
• Minimum 24 months of operating room experience in a hospital or medical center
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications
• Minimum 3 months of current travel nursing experience within the previous 18 months (no first-time travelers)
• Valid driver's license

Required Clinical Proficiencies

• Orthopedics
• Neurology/Neuro
• General Surgery
• GYN/Gynecology
• DaVinci robotics operation experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in urology and podiatry
• Scrub experience
• EPIC charting experience (training available if needed)
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months

Schedule and Expectations

You will work a 4x10 flexible day shift schedule with an on-call component that includes one shift per week and every third or fourth weekend. You are required to work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
