RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work on 5C, a 31-bed medical-surgical unit specializing in general surgery, urology, gynecology, and bariatric surgery
• Maintain 1:6 patient ratio across all shifts (days, nights, weekends)
• Must have 3-4 skill level proficiency in bariatric surgery, thyroidectomy, bowel obstruction, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Experience required with voiding trials and/or urogyn surgeries
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Floating required to other med-surg units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals
• Weekend coverage required with candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with post-operative diagnoses including ortho, bariatric, uro-GYN, and colorectal procedures
• Work with interdisciplinary support teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Skills must include surgical drains, wound care/wound vac, peripheral nerve block catheters, and general surgery post-care
• First-time travelers accepted
• One pre-approved time off request allowed
