Med Surg RN Job in Des Moines, IA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the medical surgical orthopedic unit at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Your role focuses on providing specialized patient care to those recovering from orthopedic procedures and managing their acute medical surgical needs.

Position Details

• Shift: 3x12 nights
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation
• Duration: 91 days
• Start date: May 31, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,007.72

Your Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to orthopedic patients in a medical surgical setting
• Monitor vital signs and post-operative recovery progress
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient outcomes
• Document patient assessments and nursing interventions accurately
• Respond to patient needs during night shift hours

What You Bring

• Current RN license (Iowa)
• Experience in medical surgical nursing or orthopedic care preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
• Ability to work independently during night shifts
• Flexibility to work rotating weekends and holidays
