Physical Therapist Assistant Job in Rancho Cordova, CA

Mercy Home Health is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for a travel assignment in the Rancho Cordova area. You'll deliver direct patient care in home health settings across the greater Sacramento County region, working 5x8 day shifts (40 hours per week guaranteed) for a 91-day assignment beginning June 23, 2026.

Your responsibilities:

• See 5–6 patients per day in home care settings
• Treat patients with cardio, pulmonary, orthopedic, neurological, and geriatric diagnoses
• Document care using the Cerner charting system
• Submit timesheets with mileage documentation to supervisors for approval
• Attend twice-monthly timesheet signing meetings

Requirements:

• Current PTA certification with BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 6 months clinical experience (new graduates accepted only in exceptional cases)
• Two supervisory references from physical therapy modality: one from within 12 months, one from within 3 years
• Not directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year

Compensation and logistics:

• Weekly pay: $2,044
• Mileage reimbursement available per GSA guidelines with proper documentation (accrues after first assignment visit; travel from housing to first visit is not reimbursable)
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments

You will work independently in patient homes, managing your own schedule and patient load within the greater Sacramento area. This role suits a PTA comfortable with variety in patient populations and home-based clinical practice.
