PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• 8-hour day shifts only; mix of 06:00–14:30 and 07:30–16:00 shifts (prep starts at 06:00 and PACU at 07:30)
• Will consider 4x8 or 5x8 scheduling per unit needs
• No call requirement
• No weekend requirement
• Float requirement: may float to other Charlotte area ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) if needed, including COSC, Ballantyne ASC, Huntersville ASC, and Center City — expected to be rare
• 3-day unit orientation provided
• Scrubs provided
• Average daily census of 40 patients; 9 rooms/beds
• Unit does not utilize a computerized charting system
• Care provided for patients across all age groups: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include eye and ENT conditions; procedures include BMTs, tonsils, adenoids, sinus, and cataracts
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills include: ambulatory/outpatient setting experience, starting and maintaining IVs, discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, obtaining operative/procedural consent, malignant hyperthermia protocol, and pain assessment and management
• Preferred skills include: Pedi PACU, Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, ENT and ophthalmology surgery cases, management of pediatric patients, airway assessment, placement of oral/nasal airways, emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, reversal agents, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
