PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts required
• Every 3rd weekend schedule required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 16 guaranteed hours per week (NBO)
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Unit consists of 25 beds with a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic cases
• Drip experience required: Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na (no titration)
• Specialty equipment experience highly preferred: telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo
• EKG/strip reading, measuring, and telemetry experience required
• EMR: EPIC experience required
• Must float across all campuses
• 24 months of Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital or medical center setting required
• Neurology/neurosurgery care experience required
• Orthopedic care experience required
• Trauma care experience highly preferred (Trauma Level I experience highly preferred)
• Must have completed at least one travel assignment in the previous 12 months (no first-time travelers)
• De-escalation certificate preferred (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted)
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA/ARC), ACLS (AHA/ARC)
• NIHSS preferred (can be obtained during onboarding)
• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license required
• Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Summer holidays unless the unit is closed (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
