X-Ray Technician Job in Rochester, NY

URMC Strong Memorial Hospital is seeking an X-Ray Technician for weekend shifts in Rochester, NY. This is a local position for candidates in the area.

Schedule and Hours

• 12-hour weekend shifts: Friday 10:30 AM to midnight, Saturday 8:00 AM to midnight, Sunday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
• 36 hours per week preferred (40 hours considered)
• On-call responsibilities: 2–3 call shifts per month with callback and holiday coverage as needed
• Must report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts

Role Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and review physician orders before beginning procedures
• Operate x-ray equipment to capture radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs
• Explain procedures to patients and answer their questions
• Position patients appropriately, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility
• Handle radiologic equipment safely while maintaining patient dose as low as reasonably achievable
• Observe patient status and interpret age-specific care needs
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation
• Use electronic patient information systems and practice dual patient identifier procedures
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper image identification

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NYS technician license or ability to obtain prior to start date
• ARRT certification and completion of approved radiologic technology program
• Minimum 2 years of X-ray technologist experience
• Level 1 trauma center experience
• Recent operating room experience at a trauma center
• Experience using C-arm/O-arm equipment within the past 8 months
