Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 6S MedSurg Tele/Neuro/Stroke unit
• Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts (overtime after 48 hours) - candidate preference should be indicated
• Every other weekend required, with holiday coverage within contract
• Float required within contract
• Patient ratio is 1:7 for days, nights, and weekends
• Adults and geriatrics patient population
• 30-bed unit with a daily census of 28
• Must be EPIC proficient - no exceptions
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS
• EKG test required - must score 80% or higher to pass; only one attempt allowed with no remediation available
• Required skills: IV starts, telemetry interpretation, and prior experience with neurology/stroke patients in an acute care setting
• Additional skills required: accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, CVA management, feeding tube care, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, PCA management, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, pre/post hemodialysis management, pre/post neurosurgery care, renal failure management, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, traumatic brain injury care, wound care/wound vac
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
• 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• Virginia or compact license in hand at time of submittal - no exceptions
• Permanent address must be greater than 50 miles from facility
