About this role
You'll work as a registered nurse in the 18-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy. This is a travel position with a 91-day contract starting May 11, 2026, offering $2,496.60 weekly pay on a 3x12 night shift schedule (6:30 PM to 6:30 AM).
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to complex cardiovascular patients including open heart, thoracic, and vascular cases
- Manage 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratios in a 18-bed unit
- Titrate vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmic drips independently
- Read and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Support patients on advanced devices: Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO
- Operate respiratory equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Care for complex cases referred from cath lab, structural heart program, EP lab, and ER
Scheduling and Requirements:
- Every other weekend and holiday requirement, or as needed based on unit needs
- Will float to all inpatient units except Maternity and NICU
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year CVICU experience required
- Must pass an open-book skills exam with 90% or higher during orientation
- 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
Facility Details:
- EPIC charting system
- No CNAs on unit—RNs work independently
- Navy blue scrub color requirement
- Artificial nails prohibited; refusal to remove results in contract termination
- Driver's license required at submittal for 50-mile radius verification
- You must live outside the 50-mile radius and cannot be employed with any CommonSpirit facility
