Laboratory - Medical Lab Scientist

Job Details:

• 13-week contract assignment
• Shift start time of 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Block scheduling type
• Micro plate reading required
• Required certification: ASCP
• Perform aerobic culture, culture plating, and Gram stain procedures
• Conduct microbiology culture reading and organism identification (aerobic and anaerobic)
• Perform PCR testing including flu, group B, MRSA screen, and staph aureus
• Execute plate set up and quick identification tests including strep serological, indole, coagulase, catalase, and oxidase
• Administer rapid test kits for RSV, strep, H-flu, and C-diff
• Handle hazardous materials and MSDS compliance, proper disposal, and proper labeling
• Maintain quality assurance and controls and sensitivities
• Adhere to transmission based precautions
• Preferred experience with urine, throat, stool, blood, wound, fluid, and sputum specimens
• Community hospital experience preferred
• First time travelers accepted
