About this role

Altru Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our clinical team in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This is a 12-hour shift position available for a 91-day assignment beginning July 13, 2026. You will earn $2,759.40 per week.

In this role, you will provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory treatment and support to physicians across adult and neonatal intensive care settings. Your responsibilities include:

  • Delivering diagnostic and therapeutic treatment and physician assistance
  • Providing patient education and family teaching tailored to individual needs
  • Identifying significant changes in patient condition and communicating through appropriate reporting and documentation
  • Performing pain assessments and taking action according to standard operating procedures
  • Completing comprehensive documentation including order entry, EMR charting, medication records, and incident reports
  • Processing patient charges and generating verification reports as needed
  • Disassembling, cleaning, and assembling respiratory equipment with proper preventative maintenance
  • Tagging equipment requiring maintenance, safety checks, or repair and notifying appropriate departments
  • Transporting infants to and from referral health systems when needed
  • Delivering high-quality critical care aligned with patient care guidelines

This position is open to Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) with experience in either adult or neonatal care. Required certifications include a valid Respiratory Therapist License from the North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care, BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
