About this role
University of Virginia Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the ICU on a 13-week travel assignment. You will work 3x12 hour night shifts with a patient ratio of 2:1.
Assignment Details

- Shift: Nights, 3x12 (36–48 hours per week available)
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start date: July 20, 2026
- Weekly pay: $2,264
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Maximum 40 hours of time off approved per contract; no time off approved around Labor Day
Requirements
- Current Virginia nursing license (pending license accepted at submission; must be in-hand by Wednesday before start date)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- BSN preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Must adhere to float policy within scope of practice
Clinical Skills & Experience
You will care for adult and geriatric patients with conditions including STEMI, NSTEMI, acute decompensated heart failure, myocardial infarction, post-resuscitation management, pulmonary hypertension, dysrhythmias, and valvular conditions. Strong familiarity required with Swan-Ganz catheters, vasoactive drips, and arterial lines. Experience with advanced heart failure and post-procedure care (STEMIs, TAVRs) is essential.
Key clinical competencies include arterial line management, central line care, CRRT/CVVHD, pulmonary artery line monitoring, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, ventilator management, IABP, Impella, and TAVR post-procedure care. You will work with specialized equipment including CRRT (NextStage), IVTM (Zoll Thermogard), thermodilution cardiac output monitoring, transvenous pacing, and intra-aortic balloon pumps.
Special procedures include IV prostacyclin infusions (specialty training required), post-TAVR/TMVR patient care, intravascular temperature management, and therapeutic hypothermia protocol.
