About this role
You'll work as a Registered Nurse on the Med Surg Orthopedic unit at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting July 6, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,306.88.
Shift and Schedule:
- Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
- Every other weekend requirement
- Rotate holidays with permanent staff
- Self-scheduling with cyclic rotation available
Your Role:
You'll care for post-operative orthopedic patients recovering from total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulder replacements, and spinal surgeries. Your responsibilities include administering and monitoring pain medications, antibiotics, and blood transfusions at set rates—no drip titration required. You'll work with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, supported by nurse aides and patient care techs at a 1:13 ratio. Telemetry techs are available on unit to read and interpret strips. A charge nurse is present each shift and carries an assignment.
Floating:
You may float to Med Surg, rehab, or PCU taking Med Surg acuity.
Orientation and Technology:
You'll receive one day of unit-specific orientation. The unit uses EPIC for charting.
Requirements and Expectations:
- Current BLS certification required
- Valid driver's license required at submittal
- Pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
- If placed on call and called back in, you must arrive within 30 minutes
- No artificial nails in patient care departments
