Respiratory Therapist Job in Washington, DC

You will provide respiratory care services at Medstar Washington Hospital Center, working the night shift with a 3x12 schedule. Your shift runs from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three nights per week, with every other weekend required. There are no on-call or float responsibilities.

Your Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation, including weaning protocols
• Administer high-flow oxygen therapy and BiPAP
• Deliver aerosol treatments and chest physical therapy
• Interpret arterial blood gases and adjust therapy accordingly
• Provide tracheostomy care and management
• Administer respiratory medications and operate respiratory equipment
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations

Equipment Experience

Experience with Puritan Bennett, Draeger, Servo I, Evita XL, Viasys Vela, and Maquet U ventilators is preferred. Familiarity with Cerner charting is also preferred.

Requirements

• 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) certification
• Current state respiratory therapy license
• BLS certification
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• Two supervisor references required
