Opportunity:

RN - Tele Neuro

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with hours of 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• At least every other weekend required, with additional weekend shifts possible based on unit needs and census
• 2-3 holidays required from Thanksgiving to New Year's
• 2 days of unit/department specific orientation
• 25-bed Medical Surgical Neurology unit on the 4th Floor North
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Nurse aide/patient care tech support available at a 1:10-20 ratio
• Telemetry techs will interpret strips; RNs should maintain some telemetry awareness
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Care for MS Neuro patients including strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery procedures, and Med Surg overflow
• Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive
• Required to titrate Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips
• PCA pumps used as common set rate drips
• Floating required to other medical surgical areas or units with Med Surg patients waiting for a bed
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue for RNs
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
• Travel experience preferred; strong candidates without travel experience will be considered
• No license or background hits accepted
• Must pass an open book skills exam with a score of 90% or higher during orientation
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• 50-mile radius rule applies
