RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work on a hybrid unit serving both medical and surgical patients admitted from the Emergency Department
• Care for general medical patients as well as elective and post-operative surgical patients
• Surgical patient population includes general surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colorectal surgeries, small bowel obstructions, vascular surgeries including BKA/AKA), orthopedics (knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, spine surgery, and limb lengthening), bariatrics, GYN, and urology
• Standard patient ratio of 1:5 with ability to work 1:6 ratios based on unit needs
• Patient ratios are 6:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Weekend coverage required
• 40-bed unit with interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Experience with PCA equipment required
• Document using Cerner electronic health record system
• Candidates will float within the hospital within scope
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Valid Maryland or Compact nursing license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Required skills: Med/Surg, total joint replacement, basic EKG
• 24 orientation hours included
