PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Work evening shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:2, with potential to go up to 1:4 to accommodate overflow patients waiting for room assignments
• Call schedule every 3rd weekend, usually scheduled on a volunteer basis, with call hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Holidays are part of the call schedule
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PACU required
• Travel experience required - unit will not accept first-time travelers
• Scrub color: Royal blue
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA certifications required)
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Patients served include adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Interdisciplinary support available including interpretation services, radiology, and pharmacy
• Key skills include Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, post-operative procedures, conscious sedation, pain assessment and management, arterial line management, airway assessment, extubation, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management, and management of pediatric patients
