ICU Registered Nurse Job in Crescent City, CA

Sutter Health Coast Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 6-bed ICU unit in Crescent City, California. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 24, 2026, offering 3x12-hour night shifts at $2,579.30 per week.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care in a dynamic intensive care setting treating adolescents, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients. Patient ratios are maintained at 2:1 on both day and night shifts. The unit maintains a daily census of 4–6 patients across 9 rooms. You may float to the Emergency Room or Med/Surg unit as needed, with Med/Surg being the last-resort float option; when floating, nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4–5.

Requirements

• Current California RN license
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or ARC only)
• Proficiency with Epic charting system

Core Clinical Competencies

You must demonstrate expertise in: arterial line and central line management, mechanical ventilation, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade, CVVHD/CRRT, hemodialysis, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, ABG interpretation, procedural sedation, blood product administration, port and PICC line access/management, chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, hypothermia protocols including Arctic Sun therapy, acute stroke and CVA management, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure care, GI surgery support, infection prevention and isolation protocols, IV insulin protocols, phlebotomy, and ETT/NT suctioning.

Support and Orientation

You will receive 12 hours of unit orientation. Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretarial staff.

Scheduling

The assignment includes every-other-weekend requirements. Staffing is managed on a census-based call-off system. This is an opportunity to develop advanced ICU skills in a collaborative environment with comprehensive clinical support.
