Sterile Processing Technician Job in Galveston, TX

UTMB Jennie Sealy Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a 13-week contract position. You will work night shifts and earn $1,764 weekly with 40 guaranteed hours per week (excluding the first 2 weeks).

Shift Options:

• Option 1: 10:45 PM to 7:15 AM, Monday through Friday with rotating weekends once monthly
• Option 2: Four 10-hour shifts Thursday through Sunday, 8:45 PM to 7:15 AM with no rotation

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, assemble, maintain, and transport surgical trays, instruments, and equipment following established tray listings
• Operate steam autoclaves, plasma sterilizers, peracetic acid sterilizers, biological incubators, and automated instrumentation washers
• Manage surgical equipment through instrumentation management software and materials requirements supply chain systems
• Float to units with similar skillsets as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience with Level 1 or Level II Trauma experience
• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or certificate required
• Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification required at time of application

Working Conditions:

You will wear ceil blue scrubs and work in the EPIC EMR system. The role involves moderate to extreme physical effort, including walking, standing, squatting, reaching, pushing up to 100 lbs., and lifting materials over 50 lbs. You may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and hazardous materials. Holiday rotation required as needed.

Contract begins August 17, 2026.
