Med Surg RN Job in Cedar Rapids, IA

UnityPoint - St. Luke's Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg in Cedar Rapids, IA. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting August 3, 2026.

Role Overview

You will work 3x12-hour day shifts on a rotating schedule, including every other weekend. There are no on-call responsibilities. You will float between Med Surg and Step-Down units. The unit functions as the hospital's stroke unit with 24 beds. Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and evenings, and 1:6 at night.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,280.96.

Requirements

• Iowa RN license required with Nursys verification
• Minimum 12 months of Med Surg experience
• Minimum 18 months of nursing experience in a hospital or medical center setting (required for first-time travelers)
• 24 months of current Med Surg, medical surgical, oncology, or neurology experience reflected in work history
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience administering heparin, cardizem, and amiodarone required
• Experience caring for neurology patients required
• Experience caring for oncology patients highly preferred
• Skills checklist specific to Med Surg, medical surgical, oncology, or neurology discipline required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS, and MOAB
• De-Escalation Certificate (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, or CPI) highly preferred; can be obtained during onboarding
• NIH Stroke Scale certificate preferred; can be obtained during onboarding
