PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• Rotating shifts highly preferred; straight nights accepted in lieu of rotating
• 3x12-hour shifts per week: night shift 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, day shift 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• 5 weekends scheduled within each 6-week schedule; weekend coverage may consist of either a Saturday or Sunday shift
• Floating required; must be able to float to NICU and Pediatrics based on hospital needs
• No on-call requirement
• Schedule accommodations must be submitted and approved before offer; block scheduling not available
• 2 years of PICU experience required
• Cares for infant, pediatric, and adolescent patients in a 6-bed PICU
• Common diagnoses include respiratory distress/failure, DKA, seizures, pain management, and sepsis
• Manages patients requiring moderate sedation, continuous drips, arterial lines, and central lines
• Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management experience required
• Central line and PICC line management experience required
• Experience with anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations required
• ICP monitoring experience required
• Must be comfortable caring for ventilated pediatric patients and managing acute airways
• BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and chest tube management experience required
• Special equipment experience required: ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP
• Charting system: Cerner (required)
• Required certifications: BLS/BCLS, PALS, Basic EKG
• Maryland or compact RN license required upon submission
• Scrub color: Navy pants
