About this role

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center is seeking an RN for its Intensive Care Unit in Winston Salem, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 21, 2026, with a weekly pay of $1,911.

Role Overview

You will work 12-hour night shifts with an every-other-weekend requirement. Staffing ratios typically run 2:1, with occasional 3:1 or 1:1 assignments. The unit does not use block scheduling; assignments are made per unit needs. You may float to other ICUs and intermediate care units as required. A 24-hour orientation is provided before you assume full patient care responsibilities.

Requirements

You must hold a current RN license and a minimum of 2 years of direct ICU experience. First-time travelers are not accepted for this role. Prior to your start date, you must pass EKG testing and hold current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.

Clinical Skills and Competencies

This role requires expertise in ICP monitoring, ventilator management, telemetry, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA and acute stroke management, hypothermia protocols and Arctic Sun equipment, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, lumbar drain care, post-neurosurgery management, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and traumatic brain injury management.

Unit Environment

The ICU uses EVD management, ventilator systems, Zoll temperature management and Arctic Sun, PCAs, and lumbar drains. You will document in EPIC and communicate using SBAR. The Pyxis system manages medication dispensing. The unit serves adult and geriatric patients with neuroscience intensive care diagnoses, including stroke, seizure, and critical care needs.

Support and Resources

Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams.

Additional Information

Scrubs are not provided; you must wear navy blue or white scrubs or a combination of both. Plan your wardrobe accordingly before your assignment begins.
