ICU Registered Nurse Job in Charlotte, NC

Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit in Charlotte, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 21, 2026.

Shift & Schedule

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week
• Schedule per unit needs with every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required across unit

Patient Care

• Patient ratios normally 2:1, with flex to 3:1 during high census
• Unit census averages 11-12 patients; 13-bed unit
• Care for adult patients with stroke (ischemic, hemorrhagic, SAH), SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling and clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis
• Work within a comprehensive stroke center environment

Equipment & Systems

• Specialized equipment: EVD, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, Arctic Sun
• Unit systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years Neuro ICU experience required—strong neuro critical care background essential, not general ICU experience
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Navy blue and white scrubs
• Unit orientation: 24 hours (2 days or 2 nights)

Required Skills

• Ventilator management, IV starts, neuro critical care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA and acute stroke management, external ventricular drains, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, isolation precautions and PPE, lumbar drain experience

Preferred Skills

• Arterial line management

• Interdisciplinary teams available: IV services, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, lift teams, rapid response, pharmacy, and transportation
