Pediatrics RN Job in Asheville, NC

Join Mission Hospital as a Registered Nurse in our combined Pediatrics and Oncology unit. This is a 91-day travel position offering hands-on experience in acute pediatric care with a specialized oncology focus.

Position Details

• Location: Asheville, NC at Mission Hospital
• Specialty: Pediatrics with Oncology
• Shift: 3x12 nights (6:45 PM–7:15 AM)
• Duration: 91 days, starting September 7, 2026
• Weekly Pay: $1,985

Unit Overview

You will work in a 19-bed combined Pediatrics and Oncology unit (13 pediatric beds, 6 oncology beds). The unit maintains consistent staffing with at least one oncology-focused nurse on duty daily. Night shift includes 4 RNs, 1 charge RN, 1 RT, and 1 PCT. Patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:5 depending on acuity and census.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric and oncology patients
• Float to PICU and NICU as needed to support hospital census
• Work with Alaris infusion pumps and Cerner electronic medical record system
• Collaborate with oncology specialists and interdisciplinary teams
• Complete 6 required weekend shifts, including 2 Saturdays

Requirements

• RN license (active and unrestricted)
• Current PALS and BLS certifications
• APHON certification (required for oncology assignments)
• Pediatric hospital experience required
• Pediatric Oncology experience preferred
• Detail-oriented and organized approach to patient care

This position offers exposure to complex pediatric care in both general and oncology settings. You will gain experience managing varied acuities while working alongside experienced charge nurses and clinical staff. Dress code is all navy blue or white scrub tops.
