PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This 13-week travel assignment offers a stable schedule and the opportunity to work in an intermediate care setting with diverse patient populations.

Position Details

• Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Shift: Three 12-hour days per week, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: July 6, 2026
• Weekly Pay: $2,402.64

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in an 8-bed observation unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Manage conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, CHF, dehydration, pre-op, urology, and GI cases
• Administer drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
• Read and interpret EKG strips (EKG exam required during compliance)
• Manage high-volume admissions and discharges with average stays up to 48 hours
• Work every other weekend and every other holiday rotation

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certification (ARC or AHA accepted)
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• EPIC charting experience required
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• Background in observation units or step-down med-surg/telemetry units preferred

Additional Information

• Low census eligibility up to 36 unbillable hours per contract (typically in 4-hour increments)
• Two RNs per shift in the observation unit
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Must reside outside 50 miles from facility
