PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a night shift role on a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with a fast-paced environment and high patient turnover.

Shift and Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 3 shifts per week (36 guaranteed hours)
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday rotation required
• Low census hours may be taken in 4-hour increments as needed

Role Details

• Typical patient ratio of 1:4
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Patient population includes post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, acute CP/MI, med/surg overflow including detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, and Fem Pop Bypass
• Must pass EKG test during first week of hire

Requirements

• Wisconsin RN License, BLS, and ACLS (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU)
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience
• Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips
• Minimum 1 year of recent Epic charting experience
• At least one prior travel assignment
• Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner

Compensation and Duration

Weekly pay: $2,682. Contract duration: 13 weeks, starting August 17, 2026. Any scrub color accepted.
