ED - Emergency Room

Opportunity:

RN - ER

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts rotating between 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required for contract labor
• Patient ratio of 5:1 with flexibility when using the trauma room
• Work in a free-standing Emergency Department with 10 procedure rooms and 1 trauma room
• Staff composition per shift includes 1 Charge RN and 2 RNs
• At least 2 years of ED experience required for contract labor
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, MOAB, and TNCC
• Strong understanding of EKG interpretation preferred
• Scrubs required; no hooded shirts or sweatshirts permitted
• Work with equipment including ultrasound IV skills, Lucas Device, Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis
• EMR system: Meditech Expanse
• Care for a diverse patient population including those with multiple comorbidities, complicated heart conditions, DKA, sepsis, trauma, and stroke
• Perform procedures including trauma care, stroke care, laceration repair, orthopedic trauma, ultrasound IV insertion, IO insertion, eye exams, EKGs, psychiatric care, and cardiopulmonary care
• Work with policy-written protocols based on chief complaint, completing workups of labs, EKGs, X-rays, and medications
• Run point-of-care lab testing for all patients and coordinate medical screening exams within 10 minutes of patient arrival
• Float to main ER only if needed; no floating to other units
• Must demonstrate strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Must be dependable, punctual, and adaptable with a strong desire to provide excellent patient care
