About this role
Piedmont Augusta Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a float pool position on the Progressive Care Unit. This 84-day travel assignment runs 3x12 night shifts, with a start date of September 14, 2026. Weekly pay is $1,903.
Role Overview
You will float across Medical-Surgical, Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, and PCU units, caring for adult and geriatric patients. Patient ratios range from 1:4–5 in PCU to 1:5–6 in Med-Surg and MS/Tele. Every other weekend is required, averaging 6 weekends per 13-week contract. No on-call duties apply.
Schedule & Time Off
Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract; all requests must be finalized at submission—no changes post-offer or onsite. No time off is permitted during orientation week. Holiday coverage is required: work one or two major holidays if they fall during your assignment, or two of three if three major holidays occur. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day.
Requirements
You must hold a Georgia or Compact nursing license, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification. Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required; first-time travelers are welcome. Prior charge experience is preferred. Epic charting system experience is essential; Pyxis and SBAR are also used.
Clinical Skills
Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, heparin and IV insulin protocols, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, central line, PICC line, and arterial line care is required. Additional competencies include chest tube management, PCA, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, insulin drip titration, tracheostomy care, wound care and wound vac management, phlebotomy, neuro stepdown, traumatic brain injury care, CVA care, renal failure management, spinal cord injury care, isolation precautions, and rapid response/code team participation.
Support & Environment
You will work in navy blue scrubs and have access to interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretaries.
