Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Work on a 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit specializing in post-operative care of orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
• Unit also cares for Level III trauma patients and accepts Medical-Surgical overflow as census permits
• Unit has the capability to monitor up to 8 telemetry patients
• Schedule options available: 3x12s or 4x12s
• Overtime paid after 48 hours for 4x12 schedules
• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required
• Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 are available but not required
• Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
• Typical patient ratio is 1:7
• Minimum of two years of recent relevant experience required
• Previous travel experience required
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission required; no exceptions
• Must be proficient in Epic; no exceptions
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association
• EKG testing required; must score 80% or higher to pass — only one attempt is given with no remediation available
• Key skills include: telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, orthopedic and bariatric post-operative care, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, PCA management, surgical drain management, and use of Bucks Traction
• Patients served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
