Telemetry RN Job in Chesapeake, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a 28-bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Chesapeake, VA. This unit specializes in post-operative care for orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients, and also accepts Level III trauma patients and Medical-Surgical overflow as census permits.

Role Details

• Monitor up to 8 telemetry patients with a typical patient ratio of 1:7
• Work 3 shifts of 12 hours per night (3x12 nights)
• Provide post-operative and trauma nursing care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required

Key Responsibilities

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement care
• Bariatric surgery nursing
• Wound care and wound vac management
• PICC line management
• Blood product administration
• Surgical drain management
• Operation of specialized equipment including Bucks Traction

Requirements

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Minimum two years of recent relevant nursing experience
• Previous travel healthcare experience
• Proficiency in Epic—no exceptions
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
• Pass EKG testing with a score of 80% or higher (one attempt; no remediation)
• Complete 3 hours of pre-start modules
• Comfort with a 1:7 patient ratio

Compensation and Duration

You will earn $2,203.20 per week. The assignment runs for 91 days, with a start date of August 31, 2026.
