PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work on a Post Cardiac Surgery and Post Vascular Surgery unit requiring strong cardiac and post-op heart experience
• Staffing ratios of 1:3-5 based on acuity for both day and night shifts
• Weekend coverage required every other week per contract; consecutive weekends may be needed based on operational needs
• Float rotation required - travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at both University and Methodist Hospitals; refusal to float may result in termination of contract
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be required pending operational needs, with training and resources provided
• If a shift is called in, travelers are expected to make up the day during the pay period; if unable to do so, the shift will be added to the end of the contract
• 24 orientation hours provided
• Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Required skills: Cardiac Telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience, starting and maintaining IVs, and titrating cardiac drips
• Proficient experience with multiple drips required
• Equipment used includes Alaris pumps
• Local Indianapolis, IN residents are not accepted for this position
