Join UnityPoint – Iowa Methodist Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in our Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). This is a 182-day travel assignment running 4x10 hour day shifts, with a weekly pay of $3,389. Start date is November 9, 2026.

About the Role

You will work in a 16-suite operating room environment serving as a Level 1 trauma center. The OR routinely runs 12–14 rooms with an average caseload of 35–50 cases per day. Your patient ratio is 1:1, and you'll maintain turnaround times of less than 20 minutes between cases. Both scrubbing and circulating experience are preferred. You will float across all campuses as needed. Scrubs are provided.

• Cardiac and peripheral vascular
• Neuro
• Orthopedic trauma
• Robotics (3 Da Vinci robots)
• Gynecology, urology, general surgery, and pediatrics
• Transplants, ENT, and plastic procedures (small volumes)

Technology & Equipment

You will work with Stealth technology for neuro navigation, Da Vinci robotic systems, and Synthes or Stryker equipment for orthopedic trauma. The facility uses EPIC electronic medical records.

Call Schedule & Orientation

Weekend call runs from end of shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday, with up to 2 overnight calls per week and 1 weekend per month. A structured CVOR orientation program is provided: 2–3 weeks in general OR rooms, 2 weeks in vascular, then progression to cardiac cases with shadow call before independent cardiac call.

Requirements

• Minimum 24 months of current or recent operating room experience
• Cardiovascular OR/CVOR experience required (80% cardiac, 20% general cases)
• Strong proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic procedures
• Open heart scrubbing experience required
• Trauma Level I experience highly preferred; Trauma Level II experience required
• EPIC electronic medical system experience within the previous 3 years
• Completed travel assignment within the previous 15 months (no first-time travelers)
• Reside at least 50 miles from facility (verified by driver's license)
• Current BLS (AHA) certification
• Active Iowa nursing license verified through Nursys
