Medical Technologist Blood Bank Job in Gainesville, FL

UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist for our Blood Bank department in Gainesville, Florida. This is a travel position with a 91-day contract starting November 16, 2026.

Position Details

• 4x10 night shifts: 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 40 hours per week guaranteed
• Variable schedule including holidays and weekends
• Floating required; no block scheduling
• 2-week orientation on day shift
• Weekly pay: $2,492

Your Responsibilities

• Perform blood typing, antibody detection, and complex antibody identification
• Investigate hemolytic disease of the newborn and hemolytic anemias
• Conduct transfusion reaction workups
• Support physicians with transfusion therapy for coagulopathy patients
• Perform compatibility testing and antibody titration studies
• Apply advanced proficiency in automated and manual blood bank methods
• Multitask and cross-train as needed

Requirements

• Allied Health Professional credential: MT (ASCP or AMT)
• Florida License: Immunohematology Technologist
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience required
• Recent clinical experience with no gaps greater than 180 days
• High complexity transfusion service experience required
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• Blood Bank experience required
• No work history gaps greater than 30 days without explanation

Work Environment

Casual dress or scrubs required. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided. You will work in a fast-paced cancer hospital setting supporting critical patient care needs.
